Helping you to cope with your emotions

Due to popular demand, Second Step are running another online Emotional Coping Skills course, which helps people to have better emotional awareness and teaches them valuable techniques, such as distress tolerance skills. This 6 week course starts on Tuesday 24th August, 2-3pm. You can now book via our website North Somerset Wellbeing | Second Step | A Leading Mental Health Charity (second-step.co.uk) or email us. Do you have emotions that feel difficult to manage at the moment? Do you find yourself using unhelpful coping mechanisms? This course will teach you a wide range of techniques and approaches to replace these unhealthy coping mechanisms and give you the opportunity to discuss each one, leaving you with a better understanding of what helps you in different scenarios.   Please note, this course will be run virtually on Zoom. Mental Health Support for Young People Please see the attached excellent summary of the wide range of support available for young people who are experiencing poor mental health. 

Financial Skills Support I have recently met with a colleague from Barclays who shared information about the wide range of financial information and advice that Barclays are able to provide both individuals and community groups to help them manage their finances.  The support ranges from help for young people on CV writing, managing budgets to helping people to plan for a mortgage, or manage debt, also for community groups to access information and advice about community banking.   If you or your members have a particular need that Barclays maybe able to help with please do get in touch and I will put you in contact with them.     

Grab a Jab resources We are working alongside our health colleagues to do all that we can to encourage as many people as possible take up the offer of a COVID-19 vaccination.  We currently have a range of resources including posters and leaflets aimed at young people to encourage them to take up the vaccine.  If you are able to display any resources please contact Samuel.Hayward@n-somerset.gov.ukAs the pandemic continues please share the information on the council’s website about COVID 19 Vaccinations and Testing as widely as you can.
